The situation is changing rapidly and practices are being asked to make significant changes to how they work with little preparation. This resource pack is designed to assist you in making this transition.

High Risk Patient Searches
We have been in numerous meetings with NHS Digital and the other GP system suppliers over the last few days and they have approved the below message to be shared here to avoid practices doing any unnecessary activity building reports etc for the time being until further guidance.
TPP, EMIS Web, Vision and Microtest are aware of challenges related to the letter sent to patients last week and the guidance sent to GP practices by NHS England / BMA / RCGP at the weekend around identifying high-risk patients.
They have been in discussion with NHS Digital to seek clarification on a number of points:
• Enabling clinicians to understand what clinical conditions have led to patients being marked as high-risk.
• Understanding why some GP Patients are not included in the high-risk group and the process GP’s need to take to include those patients.
• What responsibilities GP’s have with respect to contacting patients who they believe should be included.
They are awaiting guidance from NHS Digital and advise practices NOT TO UNDERTAKE any activity until further guidance is forthcoming.
We have updated our COVID-19 template to reflect latest guidance. This should help practice staff correctly screen these patients when they contact the surgery. The following links include instructions on how to access these templates along with a short training video too.
SystmOne Template – For existing users
SystmOne Template – Open access – Free for practices who do not use Ardens
EMIS Web Template – For existing users + also free for practices who do not use Ardens
These resources have been made available for free for anyone to use.
Direct patients to the following webpage for which they can use as a note for their employers.
Med3 Fit Notes
It is possible to send signed Med3 Certificates electronically via email to patients to avoid them having to attend your practice to collect it. The below article and video is a step-by-step guide on how to do this.
The following links will assist you set-up SystmOne and EMIS Web at home for remote working, including instructions on how to download SystmOne and EMIS Web and how to install a smart card reader. If you don’t have a smart card reader, consider asking your practice to borrow one temporarily (e.g. take a keyboard home which has one on).
N.B. The general tips for remote working below do not in any way replace guidance from your PCN, CCG or STP.
There are a number of useful resources for practices which we have summarised in the article below.
We would like to do more to support you. Please Tell Us what it is you need and we will make every effort to deliver this as efficiently as possible.
